Ford 1920
I was poking around the back of my 1990 ford 1920, and removed the hydraulic reservoir cap but didn't see that there was a half a maple seed / helicopter sitting behind the cap. As soon as i removed it, the seed fell in and disappeared. I tried fishing it out and vacuuming to see if it would come back up but so far no luck.

I'm not terribly mechanical. Is there a way to access the area to clean that out? How bad a problem can this cause? Any advice welcomed! Thanks!

What 5030 says. Forget about it but learn from this experience.

don't worry about it you will get it out next hydraulic fluid change. if your tractor has a strainer it will catch it before it goes into the pump. a maple seed is soft and would not cause damage even if it got into the pump. If you had dropped a rock or something hard might be a different story.

I had a 1900 and it had a suction (sump) screen in the side of the transmission under a three bolt cover. Mine would pick up various things. Not sure if yours as one but if you looked at a parts book you could find out.

No big deal and I agree with the others on no harm done.

Even if it makes it to the gear pump it will be chewed to pieces.

If it's like my gutters, you'll have little maple trees growing out the oil filler hole in about 2 weeks.

LOL. thanks for the comments and the peace of mind you guys. Glad it's not going to clog things up. Will definitely exercise more caution when opening things up next time.

I looked over the repair manual but I couldn't understand much of what i was looking at.

I'll take a look at accessing the screen pre filter. Wouldn't hurt to clean that out to avoid reduced flow imagine.

Appreciate your help everyone!

Remember, not totally sure you have one. Some do and some don't and my 1900 did. If you do, it's under a 3 bolt circular cover on teh side of the transmission. If you have one, it uses a thin paper gasket.
