Ford 1920 Starter

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get a new starter for my 1989 Ford 1920? The quote from the dealer was close to $500.00 new and the rebuilt I put in only lasted a year and a half.

Is the 500 for you to put in or was it installed. That does seem high either way. The rebuilt should have lasted longer than that. If you are capable of replacing it yourself I would sure do some calling around. I would do a search on the internet or check for the dealers listed here in TBN.

dont know what part of the countryyou are in but there are alot of auto-electric repair shops available,even if you had to ship out the rebuilt one-to have it re-built again. At least you know what youve got-Good luck,we have a couple good ones in CT.

I had to put a starter in my 2120 a few years ago. My wife at the time let a friend use it and he didn't have a key so he jumped it with a screw driver. The starter didn't disengage and burned up. A new one cost me about $500 just for the starter. I was suprised but I checked several places and the prices were always about the same. To console myself I had to convince myself that it was because it was such a small starter. Oh well it was a try. I usually never loan out my machines and sure wish my ex hadn't that time. She told me it was my fault for not leaving a key out. BTW, at least putting it in was easy.
