All,

I am thinking about converting my loader over to SSQA so I can get a set of forks, and it won't take me a lot of time to switch from bucket to forks. I priced the adapter from my dealer, and they can get me an adapter plate for $742 shipped. That being said, I can get the 2-piece SSQA brackets from Titan for $189.99 shipped, or the one-piece unit with the square stock brace for $299.99 shipped. Either of these units would require me welding the ears from my bucket onto the brackets. However, I am a little concerned about the fit of the SSQA wedge pins and levers from Titan. I did some searching and see that people have been ordering and using these units...but there are very few threads about fit after all the welding smoke has cleared. I can weld, but currently only have a 120v welder. I would probably borrow my buddies large miller and have him do the finish welding as he is a pro.

There is also the SSQA unit from River Valley Machine:

Bobcat Skid Steer Bobtach Quick Attach Adapter Assembly Case NEW Holland | eBay

This is an extra $100, and $90 more shipped, so about 200 dollars more...we are starting to get close enough to the price of the NH unit at this point which would require less overall work (time is always important).

So, could I get some opinions from the people on the board that have used any/all of these 4 SSQA conversion units?

Edit: Whoops....Probably put this in the wrong section. Hopefully a Moderator will move it!

Thanks!
Joe

Hi Joe,

I have the Titan unit on my Ford 3910 with 7410 loader. After installation, I did have some issues with fit between the Quick Attach Assembly and the backing plate for the bucket (also sourced from Titan). I had to do some minor modifications to the assembly by adding about 1/4" of material to the bottom of the unit where the pins are. This was to pad it out so that it fit more snugly; without it, there was enough slack that the pins would pull up and out of the slots during back dragging.

I was a bit peeved, but Titan handled the situation very well and reimbursed me for my labor and materials. They also requested pics of the mods so it's possible they incorporated them into future production runs. Since the mods, the unit has worked quite well.

Hope this helps,
Ben

Thanks for the information. I wonder if they have worked out the kinks yet....

I thought this thread would get more traction based on the number of times I see people mention quick attach conversions and Titan products.

Anyway, I'm still thinking it through on how I want to tackle this. I saw a thread on a home made set of forks that was very interesting. Might have to make the time and go that route for now with a pin on connection....then convert the bucket and forks to ssqa in the future if I decide to convert. You would think that someone would create a pin setup that was easier to work with...but then again with the forces these loaders generate I'm not sure removing and installing the pins could ever be quick and easy.
