ford 1920

Hello all looking for some advice on purchasing a ford 1920 4X4 sss tranny yr. 1987 with 900 hrs. with loader. I know the guy and I know it was well ( not great)taken care of. I dont think fluids were changed regularly, greased etc., but over all in good shape. hes throwing in a box scrapper with the deal. My question is were they all 32 horse and is this a good little tractor. is it worth the 10k he's asking I was thinking more like $ 8500 thanks in advance for any help you guys could give me

I used my cousins 1920 quite a bit and I thought it was a great tractor! His had the shuttle shift on the column. I'd say more like 8500 as well.

Price varies by location. A decent 1920 with 900 hours has thousands of hours of service left in it and may well prove more troublefree than a new tractror of the same size. It is arguably the best compact tractor built by any manufacturer. In my local market, if I needed a tractor in this size range I would pay $10K for what you describe. If you can get it for $8500 so be it, but the $10K asking price should not be a dealbreaker.

Had you posted your general location, better advice would be offered.

IM in western colorado (rifle) and thanks for all the advice I think I'll offer $8500 and see what happens.
p.s. the seller is my father-in-law. thanks again would this pull a small square baler? Ive seen them advertised as 28hp I thought they were 32hp, maybe 28 at the rear?

The 1920 is a fine tractor and one of the best compacts New Holland ever made...
I have the smaller brother in a 1720 and it is a great unit...
Since it is your father-in-law I would think that he would let you have the tractor at a good and fair price...
I think that $8500 to $9000 is good and fair...
As to pulling a baler, I don't think that the unit would do it very well...
My 1720 only weighs 2800# or so and around 3300# with filled tires...
The 1920 is approximately 500# heavier so you are looking @ around 3800#.
That might be a little light in the britches for a square baler...
How much does the baler weigh?
