New to tractors. Local dealer selling for $10,290. Ag tires, 12x12 synchronized shuttle, Live PTO, Power steering, Diesel 1332 hours. Does this sound like a reasonable offer? Do tractors this old have quick release buckets? Thanks for any advice.

Soundman, who posts here, will likely give you good guidance on that unit, as he is really up on these Fords. He collects quite a few of them.

My first, initial impression was that the price seems high. I would wait for some solid advice before plunking down your cash on that baby.

I never had the 1720 but did have a larger brother the 1920.. was a good unit.

you didn't specifically say that it has a loader.. but you mention a bucket. I think it might be a hair high due to age.. and well.. the ambiguity with the laoder. post back and clarify a bit.

Very high for a 1988 - probably a 1998? It would make a bit more sense.

The 1720's are good machines, I think all the XX 20 seies Fords were. I have to agree though, price seems high especially for an 88 model. I would guess it has a pin on bucket. In my area, you can pick up a FWD 1920 w/loader for that price, which I have always felt are very good machines. The 1920 has a little more weight, 5 more HP, 4 cylinder engine and slightly larger tires. I have a coworker currently selling his 1000 hour 1999 model 1925 w/loader asking something in the $9K range. Here are the serial numbers for the 1720's if there is a question about the exact year.
1987: UL21001
1988: UL22701
1989: UL26556
1990: UL28601
1991: UL30784
1992: UL32230
1993: UL33920
1994: UL35013
1995: UL36435
1996: UL37607
1997: UL38466
1998: UL40069
1999: UL41414

a 565hr 1720 no loader ( looks clean ) popped up in my neck of the woods today for 6900$.. add a loader to that? 2500$ max?

Thanks for all the info. I will have to actually stop by the tractor place and take a look.
