I picked up a Ford 201 Disk harrow to do some ground work on my property. The unit is in good shape with the exception of missing the top bearing housing on one side. The previous owner modified it with a chain to hold it together but I would like to get it back to how it should be. Unfortunately, I cannot find the replacement part. The part on the other side shows part number 111499 and I found an old manual that shows the same part. This is the 10' model with a round shaft. I would appreciate it if anybody has any ideas? The fix causes two off the harrows to bump together which I would prefer not to do.

The Part # PBF12006 replaces the part number you gave (111499). Messicks can sometimes find these parts for you even though they have been discontinued. Have you tried them.? On discontinued parts go ahead and order them and Messicks will inform you if they can't find it. It's calling the item a bearing listed as 111499 which is discontinued and replaced by the new part # above but it calls it a cap for that number?

When I looked at the parts list on your 10' Ford 201 Disk Harrow I didn't find the part number you listed. Is it possible me or you one was looking at the wrong disk? The ford 201 was built in the 50's through mid 60's and no part number on that model matches your part number. That number may be a part on the newer Ford Disk Harrows. It's also possible, very possible by the way I'm looking at the wrong one. Can't offer any good news but you can call Messicks and they are glad to help.

Actually, the book shows 111499 replaced by 7200596 which is replaced, as Steave mentioned by PBF12006. Messicks or any New Holland dealer can get it for about $21.00 if available.
Alternately, AgriSupply also offers it as well as other aftermarket sources.
Ford N Tractor Club has a great article on the history of the 201 disc and its J predecessor, just Google Ford 201 disc.

I went and confirmed it is a Ford 201 based on the stickers on it. Both sides have seven blades so it was probably considered a 8 1/2 feet. I found a document that says that the Model 201
upper housing part number is 111499 which matches. I was going to send some pictures of the unit but can't see where you put them in. I'll call Messicks, Thanks.

No go with Messicks, they tried and could not get the part. I see you can buy a generic housing and bearing spool from Agri supply for a 1" shaft. Has anybody tried that and have it work?

Well I guess it was worth a try to find the correct one. As for using another housing it will work. Never tried that particular one but have used generic housings on other disc. Sometimes have to modify the hanger bracket to fit but its usually not hard to cobble something together. You said the previous owner was using a chain so the hanger bracket must be missing. If it is you have the others to use as a pattern to make another mount. It's usually easier to buy the bracket that fits the new housing and then modify it to fit the frame. It may be the only way to get her patched up for use. I like all the old iron but using it sometimes requires building your own parts. That's my hobby and enjoy repairing stuff and using it hope you get your's going.
