If the intake is clean , what about the exhaust ? Blocked ?

Does it have a turbo or naturally aspirated? Does it have an ECM or all mechanical? I'd have injectors checked also. Those 3 things have caused similar black smoke & rough idle/running in my big truck motor in the past..... Is it using oil now where it didn't in the past? May be another bigger issue if so

I mean this sincerly, I hope you don't have to have the fuel injection rebuilt. I had a early cylinder ford 4000 diesel and was gonna have the fuel pump rebuilt well I priced the service from a local fuel injection service $800. I simply could not afford that. I sold the tractor, end of story. I found out the hard way a diesel isn't always the most economical way to go. bjr

Hello everyone,

My 2600 has been running rough, is low on power, and emits black smoke when revved up. It's been bad the last few days, but I'd noticed loss of power over the last couple of months. It starts right up and idles OK. I can't see any leaks, in the past when it acted like this I've needed to replace an injector line, but no apparent leaks this time. Where should I start looking?

Is you air filter/manifold clear? . Black smoke is indicative of a high fue/ air ratio. Blocked air filters reduce power since horsepower is proportional to airflow.
