Well this is my first tractor a Ford 3400. I bought the tractor 3 weeks ago at a great deal. I knew it may have needed some work. When I got the tractor home I began cutting the field for about 4 hours, and noticed power steering fluid leaking from the steering column. I shut it down and took it to the shop. Figuring it was a good time to have some minor repairs done. I had a new ignition switch put in, and a few welds placed. Then, I got a call from the mechanic who told me he had bad news (boy did he). He explained the my in-line injector pump died, and upon inspection had lots of water in it where its supposed to only have oil. Taking his word for it and checking some local machine shops its going to cost an additional $6-800 for rebuild. So with these cost added I'm gonna have about $3,800 in the tractor. The thing is still a little rough. But all this had me wondering... Is a tractor like this worth restoring? Or am I getting in way in over my head? The pictures are poor but its all I have. Any comments on the pump would be appreciated.
