Oil light comes on after engine warms up. I have chainged oil and filter both look good now. Originally had a bad headgasket but that has been corrected.
side note: generator is bad but have fully charged battery. any ideas????

Did the bad head gasket cause antifreeze to get into the oil??

If so, it could have toasted the crank bearings.

Also, how many hours on the machine and what weight oil are you running?

Oil thins as it warms. So with the thicker cold oil you have good oil pressure (assuming its a pressure warning light). As it warms and thins, you lose oil pressure.

It could be from a high hour worn out engine or oil pump. May be time for a rebuild? But make sure you are running the right weight oil first. And it probabally wouldnt hurt to mut a mechanical oil pressure guage on it as well to verify what the pressure actuall is before jumping to conclusions.

At this time, everything else is immaterial.

Make sure you have 10W-30, 15W-40, or SAE30 diesel rated engine oil in it and install a mechanical gauge of known quality. Pressure regulating valve specification is 60-70 psi. Somewhat less than that is OK, but a lot less is not.

If there is any leakage at the oil pressure switch, it's bad.

Put a gauge in and verify the pressure.

if the machine has a lot of hours the pressure will be low at idle,if you are running 15-40 oil you could try a slightly thicker oil but probably like ld1 says its just worn out.Keep the oil clean fresh and thick maybe 20-50 ? but start listening for knocks or squirrels,I have seen a ford run like this for years but if it got a taste of antifreeze you might as well start shopping for a rebuilder.
