Ford 3550 with ind. loader/stalls at idle under load and when changing gears

Have worked it hard for 2 days straight. Finally, it's good! Loader even runs at low idle now. Must have been the ignition coil. One last question, on occasion when turning the key to the right it will make a whining noise when trying to start. It doesn't turn over, just a wine. More so when cold. When I put the key back upright and try again, sometimes it starts right off. At least it doesn't die any more when running. Do you think this is the flywheel for is it the starter drive. Have new starter for it that was given to me. Please advise. Also, bulb on right side inside my tachometer is out. It's a new tach cluster unit. Can you get replacement bulbs? One on left inside lights up.

It sounds like your starter drive is going out. I would put on the new starter and get the starter drive replaced on the old one so you have a spare.The starter has to be removed to do either.

Even if the ring gear and the starter drive are both worn, a new starter drive will mask some ring gear problems for a while. I'd start there.
