Ford 3910

We just got 40 acres (1/2 woods, creek, 1/2 pasture). I was thinking about a new compact 4x4 tractor w/ loader, but a friend has a 1991 Ford 3910, 42 HP w/Loader, box blade, auger, with only 500 hours - it's in perfect shape, always stored covered - wants $13000. It seems like a good deal for that condition w/ all the accessories. It's bigger than I was considering, but my only concern is it's not a 4x4, and we have some low areas and wetlands - but does that seem like a fair price? Any help or info on the 3910 would be appreciated.

Keith, you might want to try this link http://www.tractortips.com. I know nothing about the accuracy or source of their information, and I know nothing about a Ford 3910, but they show it to have been made from 1983-1989, 47 engine hp, 43 PTO hp, weight 4499, and new cost $16,104 (which would have been without implements and attachments). Some other folks have posted some links in the past for prices on used tractors, but I don't remember what they were. Personally, I have a strong preference for 4WD (and HST), especially with a front end loader, but there are a lot of tractors out there with 2WD, manual transmissions, and loaders, at least in the larger sizes. The accessories new would cost a minimum of $4k to $5k, so if it's really in good condition, I'll venture a guess that it's worth what he's asking.

Keith price doesn't sound bad.But I would not have a tractor wihtout 4x4.The resale is much better and they are built alot better. just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the response and info. I am really leaning toward a new 4x4 tractor. But, just like anything else, there's always alot of decisions to make.
I'll just need to figure out the price vs. size/features equation.
