I have a 1971 4000 SU with a gazilion hours on it and the engine is finally starting to loose its power. I'm a good ways over 10,000 hours so figured its time. When i rebuild it should i overbore or should i use sleeves? I've heard both ways for these engines but want to do it the best not necessarily the cheapest. Thanks,

Yes, Agree with Rick, these engines are notorious for going porous,in my own case my engine was bored something like 200thou and heavy lipped liners were pressed in,back to original bore size. Liners were about $50 each some are cheaper but are also thinner, and many don't have the lip which has seen some ford owners left with dropped liners. They are reasonably cheap to rebuild IMHO

MY neighbor had a 4000 SU when I was growing up, I hauled a lot of corn out of the field with it. My favorite tractor of all time, good luck with it.
