Ford 4000 won't start in cold

I'm having the same issues with a '65 Ford 4000 for sluggish cold starts. I might try the hot air gun trick tommorrow. It will be 29 in the morning, so it will be a good test. Question on where to put the air gun though. I have a wet bath air filter on my tractor, so if I try on the far end with hot air, will it make a difference by the time it gets to the engine intake?

however much warmer it is at the intake the better it will be. IE.. 29' air vs what? 120=150' air?
