Ford 420 industrial tractor tach not working / long cable to tach in inst. cluster good / the 2 gears are turning in oil pump 1 that drives the cable turning with
tractor running ok . purchased and installed new short cable that goes into oil pump drive gear first . Yet long cable to tach is not turning when assembled ? Is it possible this short drive cable comes in longer lengths. or am I failing to see another problem ?

There is only one length of the short cable. It is difficult to get it seated and could be it is not driving the long cable.
