Help! I'm pretty new to tractor ownership and I don't want to do things wrong.
:)

I have a 1969 4400 Industrial with a FEL. I've noticed a slow leak where the brake petal enters the rear axle, and I'd like to top off that reservoir before levels get low enough to cause an issue. I have two questions:
1) I noticed a fill plug (on the side) and a huge nut (on the top) of the rear axle - is that what I use to fill the reservoir?
2) It looks like hydraulic oil that's seeping out - can I just top off with universal hydraulic oil from tractor supply?

I can certainly get pics if that helps. Thanks in advance for the advice!

You will need a new seal for that brake rod. It's not a hard job to replace them.
Drain the rear end oil first.
Fill plug for the rear end and hydraulics is on the back end of the tractor - kinda under your right butt cheek.
Check plug depends on what type of pto you have on the tractor - if you have pto. Some 4400s did not have it.
If you have independent pto (pump is in the right side of the rear end) the hyd level check plug is in the hyd pump - first photo.
If you have no pto or transmission pto (pump on the left, rear corner of the engine) "I think" it would be a check plug similar to a 3000. Second photo. Tranny check plug is also circled in that photo,
Loader pump - if it is run off the front of the engine - is usually in the loader frame.
Probably a cap near the hydraulic valve handles.
I'm not sure where the check plug would be on that. Look for a plug on the lower part of the main frame uprights.
Tranny, rear end, loader and power steering can all use the same UTF oil.
Look at the label to make sure it says meets or exceeds Ford 134D.

This is great - thank you so much!
I'll take a look to see if the plugs match up. Hopefully it all makes sense.

Thank you again!
