My backhoe steering wheel spins with very little resistance and no effect on the wheels. After much spinning, the wheels will turn and the steering wheel stops when the wheels reach their fully turned position.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Fill the power steering reservior which is attached to the power steering pump at the left front of the engine. New Holland 134D hydraulic oil or its equivalent. Fill until it runs out the neck. If that doesn't cure it , post back.

Hey, RickB,

Fillin er up did the trick. Thanks a million for such a simple fix.

Always before, low fluid resulted in really hard steering. What is the deal? Do you know?

Low fluid level in a power-assisted system (has a mechanical connection between steering axle and steering wheel) results in hgh steering effort.
Very low fluid level in a hydrostatic steering system (no mechanical connection) means little or no resistance at the steering wheel and little or no steering response.
