Ford 4500 Governor

My governor is no longer working. I tried adjusting throttle linkages per the manual and still will not maintain rpm under any load. Looking for some advise as to whether anyone has rebuilt one and what parts go bad? I could not find any rebuild kits online and parts look scarce and expensive. Thanks.

I have an old ford 4500 and parts are getting scarce. Time to think about retiring the old girl.

Used parts still exist for 4500's as many parts interchange with other models. You can try some of the used yards like Broken Tractor, Alexander Tractor, West Kentucky Tractor Parts, Walt's Tractors, Gulf South Tractor Parts or plug in the part numbers you need in a Google search to find possible new aftermarket.

Thanks for the link. Those parts are cheaper than what I was finding. When I start to tear into it any idea of what to look for? I've never seen a centrifugal governor but as I understand it, as the engine speed increase the balls on the driver assembly will push out and force the outer race forward thus opening the throttle plate. So my high wear items should be the driver assembly balls and outer race if I'm lucky? Otherwise it looks I'll need to tear into more stuff to get the shaft and gear out...

Only 4800 hours on the old ford should last at least another 4800

The wear you are thinking is correct, but l'm not sure that is your problem. The governor is the place to look though.
4800 hours, just broke it in. Good tractors. Keep the steering linkage in the nose lubed!
