Hi. I'm helping a buddy work on his Ford 4500 industrial tractor that wont move forward or reverse when warm. It will go about 1/4 mile cold but then stops. It has the forward/Reverse on the steering coloum, and 4 forward gears and 1 reverse gear. It uses a torque converter and hydraulic pump to run the trans. We have changed the filter and oil with no results. We purchased a shop manuel from the Dealer $650.00 and it ended up only being for Ag. tractors and is realy no help. Last year he replaced the pump for the same problem and it worked for about a year but the other day it just stopped. Question, is there a way to pressure test with a guage the pump? is there a way to pressure test the Torque Converter? Is there anything else we should be looking into? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Allen.

sooo it was many moons ago but we had a seal in the tranny go,seal (o ring ) only cost 5 dollars but the tractor had to be split and because we were in the middle of a busy construction season we paid a shop thousands to do the work.same symptoms.while in there have the torque rebuilt and loader should be amazing.having a reverse gear and a reverser must mean this loader is prior 76 ?
