I hope this is in the right area....back in April, David Wayne did the exact same job I am attempting! The "center pin" for the steering has so much slop, I need to know if you used the replacement pin from Ford , or some after market bushings and have the original pin turned down to fit the bushings?? Any help will be appreciated.........Thanks, Don

change pin and bushing with new ones either aftermarket or nh but i would also change the pin and bushing in the cylinder ends while there

Thanks, whodat526. Do you know about the new bushings? I would imagine that they press in over the old ones.? I can't see any way to get the original "steel" bushings out. Thanks, Don

The bottom of the pin on mine was chewed up and the bottom bushing was shot. I turned the pin just enough to clean it up. The bushing came out without a fight since it had worn through, so I made a new one to fit the pin. There is a grease fitting in front of the axel and one behind it. I dont remember which one is for the pin but the passage was full of old dried grease. Poke around with a pick or small screwdriver at the bottom of the hole & you will find it. Make sure you clear it out before reassembling.

yes you might have to cut the old bushings out with a chisle but it will probably cost more to have the pin turned and bushings made at the machine shop than to just buy new

I think I used 4140 hardened steel, I know that is what I bought to make pins and bushings for the hoe. Turns a little harder but I have access to carbide tooling.

Thank you David for the reply. Do to high cost at the machine shop, I am going to go ahead and buy a new pin and bushings. Thank you all for your help, I will post some pics of the progress as I get them...................Don
