can someone please tell me the correct torque specs for my wet brakes inner brake housing 3/4 nuts. my book says to torque them to 72-90 lb. ft. I torqued them to 25 first to set them, then went to 82 but stopped before I got there. It seemed that I may strip it, so I backed down to 72 with the same results. I have a really bad habit of braking nuts and bolts and I really don't want to do it to this. I only wiped them off with a clean rag before I reinstalled them could that be the problem. Thank you for any help you can give.

I have two different manuals that has the same torque values. I doubt that they both are wrong.
According to the parts list, the nuts should be Grade 5, 1/2" - 20 UNF (wrench size 3/4"?) and the torque values seem correct for a dry assembly.
Could it be that the studs are turning as you tighten the nuts, and that feels like the nut threads yield?

I reread my post and may have figured out why. I only wiped them off with a clean dry rag which may have left some fluid on the threads. it looked dry but wasn't. so today I sprayed them with brake cleaner and used a brush to clean them. Then wiped them off with a clean paper towel. (I tried to make sure the brake cleaned did not go in the axle) I'm letting them sit until tomorrow to dry. Thank you for the info.
Well I found out my torque wrench went bad. I used a different one and it worked fine to its max of 75. The one I was using that went bad went to 250+/- now I have to get a new one. oh well at least I didn't strip the threads. lol
