Hi,
Maybe there's an old thread with the same problem - We are fairly new to crofting and now I have a ford 4600 with a tipper trailer. The trailer is fine. The tractor has hydraulic input holes, of which there are 4. Three of them do nothing, the bottom right used to work and still kind of does but it leaks fluid when is connected to the trailer and the trailer is lifting. I have changed the fluid fairly recently and there is enough of it. Beyond that I know nothing.
I have the manual but it's beyond me. Apparently there is a filter somewhere which may be clogged. There can also be a pressure problem or it might need bleeding. I am slightly mechanically minded, but certainly no expert, obviously.
Any hints gratefully received.
Thanks
Yorick

Well, hello from the other side of the pond!! :welcome:

First, you posted your question in a "New Member Intro" forum. You need to ask it here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-holland-owning-operating/

Second, we need to clarify. I'm guessing that a "tipper trailer" is a dump trailer, right? And, "hydraulic input holes" refers to your SCV's, correct? (You may have to translate for some of us Rednecks. :D )
If that's the case, Ford SCV couplers are notorious for leaking under a load. All you have to do is replace the outer O-ring on the female coupler. (the tractor end) They're available from your NH dealer, and cost about $4 (US) each. That should take care of the leak.

Hey Bigfoot62,
Thanks for the welcome. You're right, it is a dump trailer. That's great news about the 'SCV's'. I'll get some ordered up pronto. I've done a fair bit of work on the tractor, mostly cosmetic, changing oil and filters but I doubt if the hydraulics have been worked on for years and years.
I'll be sure to post the appropriate place next time.
