So i just came to own a ford 4630 4wd no cab and have a few questions/issues. For the most part the tractor runs really nice. I want to change all the fluids/ filters in it. The manual calls for a M2C134-D/C. The guy we got it from was running an oil from TSC in it called all mineral 90W Im thinking that is not the correct fluid. What should i run in this? Is there a good universal fluid i can run.

Also the 4wd makes some noises. Kind of makes some groaning and maybe some clicks and pops. The groaning is more during turning. Should i pull apart hubs and inspect the planetary gears? U joints seem to be good and no slop in them with weight off the front end. Straight line seems to be ok, i backed up some steeper ground while brush hogging and didnt seem to hear anything "bad". But i figured the front end really should be making any noise.

Also would 16.9-30 rear and 11.2-24 be the correct size tires for the front and back ratio wise?
Lastly would this handle a 7-8ft tandem brush hog? sure handles our 5ft with no issues, i hate to put a 7ft single on it.

Thanks and ill try to answer any additional questions

For the oil, 90 wt would only be advisable in the front axle. The rest of the tractor, besides the engine, uses the equivalent to the 134D called for which is a hydraulic/transmission oil, also available at TSC. The 90 wt. is too heavy for the hydraulic system and hopefully the previous owner didn't put it the rear end.
Also, 134D has an additive for the wet brakes to keep them from 'chattering', but you can add anti-chatter additive sold by New Holland if they are chattering.

Drain the oil in the front axle and look for metal or chunks. It sounds like you might have a bad pinion bearing or bad bearing in the front axle reversing box. It will keep working, but it will make noise and create more damage. The rear carrier pivot of the front axle probably didn't get greased causing the oring to dry out and the axle oil leaked out of the front axle at some point.

The tire ratio is correct.

The tractor will handle a 7' brush hog fine.

The owner was using old oil for an 8n.

The 4630 for sure needs a utf oil meeting m2c134

Tsc does sell oils meeting that spec.
