Ford 5000 Electrical Schematics

I am looking for the electrical schematics of this model of Ford 5000 from the 1970s. Am trying to go back to using a starter alternator battery system rather than "heave"! each time we need to use it. Also would this model work with an alternator? I keep hearing the muttered expression "dynamo" that is "not repairable" from my local guru and need to kow if this is true. Is there such an expression as 'Starter Service"? (brushes etc..) Any advice, observations would be greatly appreciated.

I do remember when I was a kid, (60's and 70's) changing or replacing the Brushes on electrical motors and such. Dynamo? i'm not sure.

thinking of removing the starter and taking it to someone who can use DC power to check its status without me being treated to an x-ray view of his anatomy..

I would think you can test it to a degree yourself. there might be a small cover on the side held on with two screws. Open it and find the brushes, two pieces of Graphite connected to a wire, if they are short, replace them. Napa has the replacements. they might also test starter.

I know here in the states we often take things for granted. Napa is auto parts store. perhaps you can order online?
