that would be a thought.. we just changed the oil a month before Ron replaced the main input shaft. he said he strained and used the oil we put in.
I did check and the oil is nice and clear.. but as you say.. perhaps a good ideal to strain it through cheesecloth to check for shavings..
that would be a Summer job..

Get a STRONG magnet and put it on the oil drain plug until you drain it. After loosening it with a wrench, keep it on while hand turning it out. You will collect metal shavings where they can be removed!

yup, and likely it will be metal dust, and not shavings...

Thanks for your input.. will take your advice and do the magnet...
I'm sure I have one in the shop if not.. will get pick one up..
Your probably right on it being more metal dust than shavings.
