I have a 1970 Ford 5000 that I would like to put a turbo on. Any ideas of where how to get this done. I have a read a few discussions and know I came to the right place, so dump it on me.
You will have to scrounge up components from one of two applications. Either an M&W aftermarket turbocharger kit to fit the 5000, or parts from a Ford 7000, 7600, or 7610 which were 4 cylinder straddle mount tractors with turbochargers.
I did the M&W turbo kit to a '74 5000 back in 1976. Avoid the temptation to twist the smoke screw until it hits 100hp.....I did, crankshaft snapped, I cried.
Would you be satisfied with just increasing fuel efficiency? Or, as above, jacking up the fuel and hp with the resulting increase in loads on the engine and driveline components?
