Ford 555 4 by 4 transmission problem.

A branch put a hole in the transmission fillter and I lost all transmission fluid. I shut the tractor down immediately, so I don't think any damage ensued. I installed a new filter and refilled the transmission, but the transmission won't go into either drive or reverse. Being an optimist I am assuming that the problem is air in the pump. Any suggestions for bleeding?. There is nothing in the manuals on the subject.

I'm not familiar with that trans, however I did some asking around and so far the consensus is that that trans probably has a TC, and that whatever poked the hole in the filter may have contaminated the system .. like hanging a valve.. etc. Also possible it may have cracked the pump casting and is letting it suck air. (credit Rod at YT for this info ).
