I recently bought a 555. The previous owner wasn't very good at keeping up with routine maintenance. It doesn't look like the hyd pump driveshaft has been greased in recent years. I couldn't get the zerk on the front u-joint to take grease. I took the bolts out that hold the pump and disconnected it from the driveshaft. The front u-joint is seized up. I can't move it at all. I don't think the back one is much better.
What do I need to do to pull the driveshaft? Will I have to pull the hyd tank, cooler, pump, and the radiator? I can't get to it from underneath. I don't know if I can get to it from the sides with the loader raised.
Can I get new u-joints for it or will I have to replace the driveshaft as a unit? Any idea what the parts will set me back?
Its operational as is but I suspect the seized u-joint is causing vibration that could shorten main bearing and hyd pump life.
