Recently bought a 1980 Ford 555 TLB and want to change all fluids and filters. It uses the same oil for the trans, hyds, diff, and PS.
NH specs Ambra 134 G. I got a nearly full 5 gallon pail with the tractor. I still need to buy 7 pails. Price for the NH oil is around $570.
I can buy 7 pails of Mobil 424 for $425. The dealer wasn't much help when I asked if it met the same specs as Ambra 134 G.
Does anyone on here know definitively if Mobilfluid 424 meets the same specs as Ambra 134 G?
I could save another $100 by going to a house brand the Mobil dealer carries. I have a friend that's an engineer for Cat. He warned me about issues with some UTF's causing brake chatter, and leaking seals. I've read on here of guys finding flakes (bits of seals?) in their hyd oil when running generic UTF, and brake chatter problems also.
I don't want to go with the generic oil if there is ANY question about it not being 100% compatible.
Mobil's products are as good as anyone's and would prefer to use the 424 fluid over Ambra because of convenience of the dealer locations....but I want to be 100% certain the 424 meets the same specs.
This machine is going to be used on our property 4 1/2 hours from home. I'm more interested in avoiding down time than saving the last nickel on oil.
