Ford 555 TLB

I have an old Ford 555 and have always used had an 18 inch wide bucket on the backhoe. I have a large trenching job coming up and would like to upgrade to a 30 inch wide bucket to speed up the job. I'm wondering if my machine will be able to handle the larger bucket in clay soil. Any opinions?

I have a 555A with a 24" bucket and it goes right through clay here. I think you would be fine with a 30".
