Tractor
Ford 600
Hi,
I have a '54 Ford 650 (5 spd; PTO; 3 pt) and implements, that I need to sell. Trouble is, I need help on pricing this. The tractor is in good condition, running well, with hydraulics working fine. It's been in the family since new, but has been used mostly for plowing snow and cutting weeds. I also have a 6' Woods brush hog, a 5' Ford sickle bar, a 6' front blade, a 4' rear blade, a small plow, and a small disc set-up. I can e-mail a picture or 2 of the tractor - just let me know.
This will be a package deal. Can anyone price this out (ball-park is fine).
I'm from southeastern PA.
Thanks!-Ted

Ted, what you have is a 1-owner tractor and some great implements. You didn't mention how new the implements are, but probably the Woods cutter is fairly new and the sickle-bar is older. The model of the Woods cutter and age are critical, so I'm going to say you have about $2000 worth of implements and a tractor that is worth $3000-$3500. I'd be tempted to price the package at $5,995 and have a little negotiating room. I'm not expert at this, so I could be wrong. This is just gut-level. Your mileage may vary....:)

I'd price the implements closer to 1500$... but Jim's on the money.. tractor condition and whether you sel the implements seperately or not will affect price. generally implements with the tractor as a package sell faster but net less money... ( sometimes it's bettery to take a small loss on the implements rather than set on them and pice them out.. )

PM sent.

Within the past month, a nice, repainted Ford 641 did not make its reserve of $3,800 at a local farm auction. I believe it was bid up to $2,800 or so. There were no implements with this tractor.

The numbers quoted by previous posters are not far off.

Guys,
Your info and suggestions are greatly appreciated!! I'll be checking on the brands/model #'s, etc., and will post that info very soon.
And the tractor and implements, except the plow and disc, have always been stored inside. Sure, there's always going to be grease on them, but there's no rust. Hopefully that will help as a selling point.
Stay tuned! :D

Normally I price implements at half new, if they are serviceable.. less if particularly heavilly used.. slightly more if quite new.. and 75-90% if really new/unused.

if the implements you mentioned really are pretty new.. then Jim's amount may be closer than my 'discounted' amount.

Without seeing them, it's impossible to give any sort of accurate price, but average price for average to good condition, approx. $600 for Woods mower, $300 for the sickle bar, MAYBE $300 for a good front blade, $150 for the rear blade, $250 for a plow, and $350 for a small disc. ($1950 total)

The tractor should bring $2800 to $3000 (average around here)

Sold as a package for one lump sum, I would be amazed to see it bring more than $4500. You'll get a much better return by piecing out everything I'd suspect.

Thanks all! I've gotten more info than I expected, which is really great!!
I'll try to post a few pictures of the tractor (looks like only 1 picture made it - space here is not large enough to attach more).
By the way, I measured the blades, and the front blade is 7' and the rear is 6'. I also found out that the hog is an AVCO one, but maybe they're connected to Woods somehow (it was sold as a Woods).

AVCO was the parent company of New Idea back in the '70s, if I am not mistaken. I found some data in an old 1974 Implement & Tractor Red Book that AVCO New Idea marketed a model 452 rotary cutter. Maybe somebody can provide insight to any Woods / AVCO ties.
