Ford 655 c shutoff

I have a 1990 ford 655 c with a weird problem. While using the machine, it shuts off unexpected. When this happens, there is no power to the key, hour meter, fuel gauge , buzzer and engine temp guage on the side panel yet there is power to everything else (lights, hazards etc). On the front panel by the steering wheel the hazards work but the directional doesnt. I take the side covers off and i cant see any wires broken or damaged. After about 10 mins of messing with the hazzard and directional switches the battery light comes back on and the power is back to the key. The machine then starts up and runs like a top.

Any guesses?

Without having w wiring diagram, just follow the wires.

When it happens, I assume you have no power at the key right?

Find out what wire powers the key. Chase it backward all the way to the source (battery) if you have to and find out where you are dropping power.

A dvom is your friend when it comes to electrical.

yes there is no power to the key. I tried to trace the wire and didn't see any breaks. Its almost like a breaker or a relay is heating up and killing the power to the key, then working once it cools.

Here is a link to New Holland Construction Official New Holland Construction Equipment Online Parts Store and Parts Finder. showing the LH side of the electrical system on the 655C. It shows a relay (#13) in what I presume to be the starting system. Googled the part number, 86529089 and got a bunch of hits. Messicks lists it for $14.99.

If you Google the part number, you'll see threads from Forums, some hereon TBN about starter problems involving this relay.
