I looked up the trouble shooting in the PDF service manual. It seems it is more complex than I would have thought it was. The tractor had been sitting for sometime before I brought it back to life. I told the owner to hook his bush hogg to it and just run it and see if it frees itself up. I know that is probably a dream but what the heck let's try. Has anyone dealt with this before that can offer any insight on the best way to Diagnose exactly what is wrong, and fix it the easiest way? Thanks

The PTO brake is worn out probably from shutting the PTO off at mid or full speed

Was the bush hog still connected? Did you try putting and load on bush hog like cutting grass to see if it stopped?

Like tractor tech I also suspect worn brake band but a small load should stop the PTO if it disengaged properly.

We had 5610 and I do not remember anymore if there are any adjustments on that Band. I do believe was accessible by removing rock shaft cover for visual inspection.

There is some adjustment on it, but typically it is worn too far. Access is through the rock shaft/topcover.

I agree, clutch pack is shot and if it's like my Kubota's major surgery will have to take place to fix it. Why I always run an over running clutch on my PTO stubs of I'm running an implement that don't have one built in. Choppers and shredders are all very guilty of it.

Inertia driving the PTO after it's disengaged will quickly screw the pto clutch plates and then the PTO won't stop turning.

Have fun and it won't be cheap to repair.

I tried to stop it by wedging a 2x4 up against the shaft to see if it had force behind it.It just ground a big notch in it. The owner is going to hook a bush hog on it and see if it running it a little will help

The 3pt topcover under the seat comes off. Access is great once it is off

It may be possible to access the adjustment and/or have a look at it from the LH access plate (round plate on the side of rear axle).
