Grading Ford 702A Blade

Just bought a Ford 1210 with 60" deck. While I was picking it up I saw a Ford 702A front blade on the used lot. Does anyone know if it will fit the 1210. Looks like all the mounting hardware is there. How does the hydraulics work if I have no remotes, can you run something with the PTO?

How wide is the 702? I expect you dealer can tell you if the mounting hardware will fit. if not it's probably pretty easy to modify to fit. If I remember the 702 right doesn't it have two long arms that mownt to a bracket towards the middle/rear of the tractor. I think you'll find that it will be easier to add remote hydralics rather than deal with a PTO pump, tank and valve. I might be more inclined to use one of the self contained electric units that looks like a hydraulic cylinder. Then all that is required is a switch and a couple of wires

Who makes the electric units? And that sounds like the 702 Blade, it does have the arms that would come about half way back.

I'm not sure where to get the electric cylinders. The ones I have are the dump cylinders for the Cub Cadet Big Country. They were purchased seperately as a option so I suppose that is one way to get them. When I'm down at my farm again I'll look at one and see it I can get a brand name.

I still haven't had a chance to find out the name on the Cub cadet cylinder. I did come across a self contained "Linear Hydraulic Actuator" from KYB that might be of interest, not just here but for anyone who needs another degree of hydraulic contron and doesn't have enough hydraulic circuits. Thanks for the info Andy. Looks like I can run 1 remote off my tractor so this would be good for the blade up and down. Then I could run the angle with the tractor remote.

Hi I saw your question about a blade for a 1210 ford. I am looking for some info on one. How it works on the 1210 with no power steering? How does it hook up to the tractor? I need it to move stone. Is it worth putting on?I tried talking to the dealer put no luck there . I would really appreciated your time and input.

Hi Sld, I would love a loader for my 1210 but when I talk to dealer they tell me if I do not have power steering it would to hard to steer with a bucket. Is that true? I would appreciate your input and time. Thank you

It is definitely harder to steer but I haven't found it to be a problem. I did replace all the steering rubber and added fresh grease to make sure it was up to snuff. I would not let this stop you.

When you are rolling it is fairly easy to steer. Sitting still and with a full load in the bucket it is hard to steer. I have been moving dirt on top of a dike around a pond. If I need to make a tight turn I set the bucket down enough to raise the front wheels off the ground and crank them lock to lock. Raise the bucket and drive away. It works pretty good and you can do a sharp 3 point turn.

I took the loader off for winter snow removal and maintenance or I would snap some pictures. If you have any other questions let me know.

BTW, I bought my loader on eBay for 1600.00 complete with hoses, valves and brackets, even nuts and bolts. It was an easy 2 hour job to install.
