I ordered a new clutch and pressure plate for my 841 on ebay. As soon as I hooked up the linkage, I could tell the pedal was low and the clutch didn't seem to disengage the whole way. Adjusting the clevis on the clutch rod didn't help; the pedal would stop before hitting the running board, but the clutch was still not disengaged the whole way.
I split the tractor back apart, and didn't find anything wrong, except a shiny circular track on the center spring hub of the clutch disc. This was caused by the jam nuts for the clutch finger adjustment bolts. I decided to look up the clutch finger adjustment procedure in my I&T manual, to find that the adjustment bolts were 3/16 out of spec.! After I backed them out to where they should be, there were no threads left on the clutch side of the bolts for the jam nuts. So I moved the jam nuts to the throw-out bearing side of clutch fingers, which would also keep the nuts from grinding on the spring hub of the clutch disc. I reunited the two halves of the tractor, and the clutch seems to function normally.
I thought I would share this story to possibly spare someone the extra work that I went through.
If someone that has more experience than me is sensing a problem with all of this, please chime in. I thought about sending the clutch back. Right now the two halves are joined with only the big 3/4" bolts on each side holding the tractor together. If need be, I could have it back in half in 5 minutes.
