Ford 850 PTO Lever Stuck

The PTO lever will not move to engage on a 1957 Ford 850. I turned the shaft and had the clutch pushed in but it will not shift to engage. The lever will wiggle some and I tapped on it with a hammer lightly. I haven't pulled the cover yet but plan to next trip to the farm. Any ideas?

Is it possible you twisted the PTO shaft last time you used it? A twisted PTO shaft is one of the most common reasons for it not engaging.
