Ford 861 pull a 15' batwing mower?

lol Ok technically they are a "All Flex Mower" but also some refer to them as a batwing finish mower. Still think the 861 would pull it?

With the photos above what would you guys think its worth? new they are around 15K.

Nobody is picking on your descriptive terminology. Value is in the details. I can't tell if the CV joint is whole or broken or what the rest of the drivelines are like. Location also plays a huge role in used equipment values. There's a thread on another board that puts used 6' finish mowers at $500-600. Name brand machines are nearly double that "here". I'm not going to speculate on the value of that Woods. if you just bought it, it must be worth what you paid, or it was on that day at that time.

If you are mowing level to slightly rolling ground then I would say go for it. I would defiantly stay off of steep grades as the mower at 3300lbs outweighs the tractor by around 400lbs (without fluid filled tires). As a couple of others have said, an 861 has about 48 pto hp which is still several hp above the minimum required of the mower. I will also admit that I too thought you were talking about a 15' batwing brush cutter at first. Talk about the tail wagging the dog!:laughing: Good luck.

Thanks guys! mowers aroung here for 5' start at $500 and go up with condition and name brand like you said. I've not seen many 10-12' all flex mowers around. They usually go for top dollar if you can find them. This one at a state auction for $2k.

My lawn is more rolling with no big hills pretty calm. I might jump on it and replace the tractor with something larger soon.

call me crazy i would hook it up and try it ( using plenty of caution) i have seen the guys around here put real big hoggs/mowers behind tractors, i seen a guy who put a hogg behind his tractor he couln't steer . be care full go slow.
