ford 8n front end weight

You will probably find that a set of weights make it almost impossible to steer when not towing.(former 9n owner) Try using the drawbar with a arch style skidding cart. It lifts the front of the log off the ground giving you more usable power.

So what does he do when the logs ain't back there??:D

He needs a loader bucket that can be filled with disposable weight in his situation!:D

But then again he's not supposed to be towing from the three point is he.

Wasn't there a thread about an accident a little while ago when a fellow towed from the three point?

then like any sane person, he takes the weight off the front if he don't need it.

thus the sugestions for bumper weight.

I agree. For those who have never driven an 9N/2N/8N, too much weight on the front end makes them a bear to steer. I used to have a 8N myself.
For anyone who has driven it with a loader, it is even worse.

A towable arch is one good option. I added to my 8N, an aftermarket drawbar kit. The latest cost was somewhere around $110.00. It keeps the connection point low. Not every place stocks them, but they can be ordered. It will also be better than the 3-point for towing a trailer.

Any time I was skidding trees around I always connected the tow chain to the drawbar. I never remember an issue with the front end getting too light. I did not have fluid in the tires, so the tractor broke traction first.
