The steering on my Ford 8N will steer to the left fine but it locks up when I try to turn it to the right. It finally went out all together and I replaced the top and bottom bearings on the steering column and put it back together but with the same problem. I'm not much of a mechanic but I am trying to figure out how to fix it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Very common on the N tractors. Just get a rebuilt steering box. I had to do it this spring for my Co-Pilots 8N. Got it of the internet for about $600.

Check out John Smith's Ford tractor website. He knows Ford tractors inside and out. I bought a rebuilt steering box and column from him last year for my 8N. $390. including shipping. He will also give you a $65.00 credit if you return the old one to him in the same box that he sent the new one in.

I guess my memory is fading. I got the one I replace for about the same as Jim stated. I charged him $600 to install plus some other fixes that needed to be done along with transport to and from my shop.
