IF it has an old PTO Shaft you will need to purchase guard tubes (if possible) or invest in a new PTO shaft
Please post exterior pictures of the flail mower if at all possible including the following views:

using a piece of duck tape to make the starting spot where you took the photo images, do not
worry, the ducks wont mind and it will help to help you start mowing that much faster
Be very sure to check the inner bearing hubs for any wire or twine wrapped around the flail mower
rotor shaft ends-it has to be removed
take it to a car wash or use a pressure washer with very hot water ans dawn dish soap to wash everything especially under the flail mower shroud to dislodge any rust and grass dust.
1. drain the oil from the gearbox and replace it with fresh 90 wt. gear oil
2. remove the V belt cover and remove the old V belts
3. check for broken /bent knives and order replacement knives-and NO they cannot be bent back as you will weaken them
4. purchase replacement knives and hangers as the flail mower cannot be operated without a full number of knives and hangers.
It does not take 3 days to "read" the entire thread. You have plenty to do to make sure its ready to use before you mow with it.
