I have an early 80’s Ford 930a 48” mower. My dad bought it slightly used with his 1100 series tractor. The tractor only has 600 hours, so I am assuming the deck has very few hours on it. The problem is that the shell is completely rusted out. Does anybody know who made this unit for Ford? I am assuming Woods, but when I called them directly the offered little to no help. I am trying to find out if I would be better off buying a new shell for the current deck, or buying a complete new unit.

Thanks,
Jon

More than likely, the cost of a new "shell" would be prohibitive, even if you could find out who made the unit. An alternate fix to buying a complete new cutter would be to take it to a welder, and have him cut out the rusted areas, and rebuild with new plate steel. But, get an estimate. Often this is as expensive as a new unit.

Good luck, and hope this helps.
