Update...

have been fixing leaks and neating up wireing and replacing broken fasteners.. etc. had to drill out a broken bolt inthe front pedistal, and replace a few small parts.. belts.. etc.

found some tinwork on ebay ( machine used to be LPG, but was converted to gas.. thus old tinwork was discarded. ). Might have to fudge the tin as it came from a 900 not a 901.. alldepends on if my gas tank is from a 900 or a 901.

I need to weld up a new steering arm, and then I'm ready to chase a few more leaks.. past that.. I'll be ready to prime the chassie soon. Probably get to the steering arm tomorrow.

Unit came with a ford 711 1-arm trip loader ( basket case ). i can't wait to stat playing with that... will be my 3rd 1-arm loader..

Soundguy, Nice picture looks like a fun project. I'd be afraid to run that around my property it's pretty hilly. I do like the old iron.

If I lived in real hilly country.. I might not run it around too much either!

Chris, a freind of mine used to have a 961 w/ps and a one arm loader that worked great . I couldn't tell that it was any less stable than our 4 cyl 4000 with a one arm on it. His had a hyd bucket and ours was a trip bucket. His was a lot easier to mount the loader on than the wide front 4000 also. Later, Nat

I have two hundred series fords with a wide front.. 850 and 660 both with ford 1-arm laoders, hyd dump.... and now this NF 951. I have a trip 1-arm laoder for it. it *looks* like it will be easier to mount the loader on this one.

Good progress. You work a lot faster than I do.

I'm anxious to hear your comments on the ride you get out of a tricycle tractor like yours. I'm looking at a tricycle Allis Chalmers WD and can't decide whether to make an offer. Don't particularly like the tricycle arrangement (possibly tippy). Prefer wide fronts.

I have a JD-B already.. narrow front ( 2 wheels ).. this ford 951 drove about the same with it's single front wheel. It's higher up.. but don't feel tippy.. even when I trailered it..

I have an A-C WD-45. I take that all thru the woods, hillsides, wherever. Just keep the speed reasonable and watch for big rocks under the uphill reat tire and you'll be fine. I prefer a tricycle in the woods, I can go about anywhere an ATV can go.

I really like the trikes in the woods also. They are easier to manuver with steering brakes (can do a 360 in place) and the forward visibility (stumps, etc) is a lot better. I don't think they can legally be made any more for liability reasons concerning stability, although there is a fella on this site who swears they are more stable than wide front tractors. I think he is dead wrong for the following reason: If a hollowed out ground-hog home collapses under one of your rears, there is nothing to stop the trike from flipping over. If this happened on a wide front tractor, the front would drop down, but the rear would hold the tractor up. This makes trikes a particularly bad choice for work in hayfields or pastures where these furry creatures live. I still think the trikes have thier place, for cultivating and woods work, but they are definitely not for inexperienced operators. The Allis WD is a heck of a tractor, I own its little brother trike, the C, and have often ran my uncles WD. That 951 probably has some serious value due to its rarity, but I would keep it out of the pasture.

This one will likely be on light duty... It will ahve a ford 711 1-arm trip loade ron it.. but I doubt it will ever do much more than haul feed down tot he animal pens. i have a 660 and 850 ford both with 711 and 722 1-arm full hyd loaders for larger chores.. like moving hay.. etc..
