I'm looking at a Ford 2910 that the man says is a 1992 model. The sources I can find don't list them as being built as late as '92. When was the last one built? Any pro's and con's welcome
Thanks, Gene

The info I have shows the last Ford model 2910 was a 1986. They list a New Holland/Ford from '87-89. The 2910 drops off after that

This is what I found. 1989. I would get the serial number and check with some other dealers or call New Holland direct.

I haven't seen the tractor yet, but I just talked to him again and he said he bought it new in '92. I suppose it could have been on the dealer's lot that long. I'll know more in the morning. Are there any consistent weak points about the model? Thanks for your replys

I looked at the tractor this morning. 2 wd, 1182 hours and the owner had papers where he bought it new in feb of '92. The serial numbers show it to be an '86 year model. It has the series II decals. It's been sitting out in the weather , water in the hyd. oil, power steering didn't work (couldn't see the oil in the reservoir) , battery was dead but they had a new one to install, headlights out, ignition switch inop, (crank it with a screwdriver), tires weather checked and cracked, grill guard bent, one lower hitch arm bent about 30 degrees, muffler rotted out, front wheels leaning in because of sagging front axle, but it ran and operated good except for the steering. He had several pieces of equipment with it that were junk except for a tuffline disk. He's asking $7000 obo. for it all.

Tractors are kinda like kids, some people shouldn't have them.

Probably good advice!! If he will negotiate a good bit I might try it. I'm retired with some time on my hands, so with a little money and a lot of sweat equity it might make a decent tractor.

Thanks to all for your replies.

I wouldn't buy what you described for more than 3500.

The 2910 wasn't THAT impressive of a tractor.. as compaired to other 35 hp tractors.

You could pick up a 'restored'refurbed.. 4000, 4000su.. 4630.. 3600 or even a 5000 / 6000 for close to what he is asking..

Those problems indicate some hard usage and abuse. With that many hours that thing was dogged. The weather may and may not have been the problem. Keep looking. Good Luck

Soundguy, you might find this as amusing as I did but my dealer took in a Ford 5000 2wd w/ loader on trade and even before running it thru the garage they were asking $12,500 for it. I started to laugh when they told me that price then I went out and looked it over and it had a couple fuel leaks and most likely will need a new fuel tank which will put their price up even higher the way they work over there. I was really hoping to get a 5000 for the in laws farm to replace the David Brown 990 that is getting very tired. They want a loader so they can clear the main alley easily and these new tractors are too big to fit in their barn so I keep looking and hoping my dealer wakes up and drops the 5000's price down to the $8-9k range.

As for this 2910, from my own experiences I would not look at this tractor again. If it is that rough on the outside, how bad is the inside. It is obvious the guy did not care much about the tractor so you know the regular maintenance was most likely not done and you will end up with a lot of headaches as you try to get this thing back up to par. For $4-5k I would go look for a very good old MF 135 as those tractors were great little tractors and still are. If you want a Ford then keep looking as they are out there in a lot better shape then what you have found.
