Ford & Chrysler announced \"Employee pricing today\"

Now GM, Ford, and Chrysler have "employee" pricing for everyone. Have at it! Ford's website has some issues though. If you go there and check out what your "Family" price is, on some units the "employee" price is over MSRP, or only a couple hundred below. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Oopsie Ford!

Try going there and pricing out a SuperDuty diesel. It shows the "employee" price as being $501.05 below MSRP. Right! I called a few Ford dealers, and they verified that Ford's site is just screwed.

Dargo,
Do you know what the employee pricing actually is for Super Duties? The wife and I are looking for one. If it's a good enough break we might go with new.
The Motor Companies say Employee Pricing but don't tell you what that is. How do we know for sure. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Ford & Chrysler announced \"Employee pricing today\"

I know of companies that have "employee pricing" that can be beaten by carefull shopping practices. And on top of that practice, have quotas in place for employees that will allow only limited purchases of particular types.

Makes one wonder --- why?

Re: Ford & Chrysler announced \"Employee pricing today\"

Hold the presses, Ford just announced to their dealers that there might be a problem with their online pricing. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Duh!!

I did confirm with 3 Ford dealers now that their employee pricing is the real thing, just like GM's deal. On a SuperDuty that lists for about 48k, it can now be bought for about 38k. If you're in the market, it really is a pretty darn good deal. They really do have a hook too. The deal is only through 8/1/05. So, what's out there and available now is what's going to be sold at that price.

I told my neighbor, and he went and bought one on his lunch hour. National advertising should hit tonight; to be followed ad nasaum by your local Ford dealers. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh yeah, my Dodge dealers tell me that there is a pretty good rush on their Cummins pickups already as well. Their ads will hit tonight as well. I suppose you won't be able to get through your evening news without being bombarded with the "employee pricing" (Ford calls it Family Plan - dunno what Chrysler is calling theirs) ads.

I'm curious who can count the most car ads during their evening news tonight; or better yet tomorrow, when the local dealers will have their ads running as well. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Dargo, do you know if the Dodge "Sprinter" van is part of the Employee pricing program?

Re: Ford & Chrysler announced \"Employee pricing today\"

Dargo are they going to let you get the rebates too like GM did? Usually with employee pricing if you're an employee you didn't get the rebates. I could usually get $500 under invoice plus the rebates which worked out to less than employee pricing. I don't know about Dodge but with Ford the employee pricing was the A plan. Personally I wouldn't trust the dealer. Make them show the invoice. It will have a plan pricing on it and that is what the actual employee price is.

Re: Ford & Chrysler announced \"Employee pricing today\"

According to a Ford inter-dealer memo, all Ford vehicles up to, and including the 350 series, will qualify for their "Family Plan" and receive the corresponding rebate.

Bob, the two Dodge dealers I spoke with told me that as of now they don't know. Both Chrysler and Ford dealers seemed a bit ticked off that word leaked to certain sectors of the general public (me included) before they had official word. Unfortunately, this is more common than not with the manufacturers. Nissan and Toyota both made statements today saying "no way" they would ever make such a deal. They said that the U.S. auto makers were falling behind in a major way in market share and were desperate to regain that portion of market share. If anyone's interested, more to come as I hear...

Re: Ford & Chrysler announced \"Employee pricing today\"

Employee pricing is actually below the dealer net, net cost; which includes holdback and any other incentives. In general, it has been a nice benefit for employees to be able to drive a new vehicle basically every year for little to no cost. They have typically been able to sell or trade their vehicle for what they paid for it. In most cases, the only loss has been their sales tax and licensing expense. These programs have, for all intents and purposes, nixed that employee benefit.
