Ford industrial 3500 questions

Yes, sorry. Rear hydraulic on LH rear of engine. New seal kit and it is still squirting when under pressure. Tractor shop suggested changing to a diaphragm pump rather than piston pump but since it's an Industrial and not a farm tractor he said it won't work. He couldn't order me a new piston pump. Is there any place out there to find a good used one or even a new one that he didn't know about? Thanks

Where is it squirting? The head can be welded or replaced if necessary. Those pumps are pretty simple, they are either rebuildable or they aren't! Rather curious that the hydraulic shop just sort of threw up their hands!
A new pump from SSB Tractor for $1600, but Broken Tractor has early style $610. rebuilt or late style $575 rebuilt, $1210 new. Rebuilt is with exchange.

Squirting from back of the pump by your left knee. Seems to do well until you put a load on it and then really lets loose. I looked on the website you sent. I'm going to go that way unless I can find someone else to rebuild it locally. If not I think what you sent should do it. I don't know why they just put a seal kit in it instead of rebuilding it. He was so concerned that a diaphragm pump wouldn't work because there is no room with the front end loader arms giving no room for the upgrade from piton to diaphragm. I can try to send a photo if you think that would help.

Best to stay original for least cost and fewer headaches. The piston pump works very well when it is in proper shape. Very curious what your hydraulic guy was talking about. Diaphram pumps are good for high volume low pressure situations such as water pumping. I don't have a clue what he is thinking about that would work even if you have the room. The only substitute for that pump that would fit well would be a gear pump that later models use, but again, retrofitting would probably cost more than just dealing with what you have.
