ford Jubilee 3 point hitch

Hello All,
I have a Ford Jubilee "53 and I don't know if my 3 point hitch is working correctly.

It will raise and lower but I cannot get it to stop at a certain height. There is a very small band about 1/3 of the way up on the adjustment that it will stop start to raise and it will go all the way up.

When I move it 1/2" either way from that point it will go either all the way up or all the way down whether I have any thing on it or not. It seems to me it should stop traveling depending on where I stop the adjustment lever,CORRECT?

FYI 1st tractor i have owned so it very well could be something I am doing wrong.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

are you in draft or position mode? ( lil lever straight up or pointing front? )

It does the same from both positions.
which way should it be?

up is position, down is draft.

If it acts the same in both, you have an issue under the cover.

before you pull the cover.. read the manual or backpressure valve damage could occur.
