1953 Ford Jubilee
does a 53 ford jubilee share a common sump for trans, hyd, and rear end fluid? i can only break loose the angled cap below the seat. the guy i bought it from told me they share a common sump, but i fail to see why there would be 3 caps if it does. also, where do you check the trans fluid? i see a large bolt on the right side of the tranny but it is not the same size as the other 2. is it appropriate to use the same fluid for all 3? are there any signs to look for as to a low level in these fluids until i can get the caps loose? thanks

They are designed with three separate sumps with different fluids although a lot of them have bad seals which allows the fluid to get from one sump to the next. I sold my NAA but if memory serves me correctly the transmission fills through the large cap near the shift lever and has a check plug on the side. The hydro fills through a large cap under the seat and checks the the dipstick on the right side and the rear end had a check oil with a pipe plug but I cannot remember where the fill cap was.

Due to the problem with fluids leaking from one sump to the other I was advised to fill all three with hydro oil, which I did and everything seemed to work fine.

You might consider acquiring an owner's manual, Printed about $15 and might find one for download
