Hello all,
I have a 1990 FORD LGT 14D with a problem. For those familiar with this little beast, it has the 3 cylinder Shibaura diesel with double belt drive to the front/mid splined PTO shaft that passes thru the front axle. The problem is that the splined PTO shaft has begun to slide fore and aft such that the belts come off the pulleys rendering the PTO useless.
After lurking here for many months, I have concluded that if there is anyone anywhere who knows about these things, that person most definitely resides here on this wealth of information called Tractorbynet!
Can someone tell me why this may have happened, if this is repairable and how to go about removing the front axle/PTO shaft. I have the parts manual that shows the exploded view of the assembly but it is still not clear to me how to get the thing off.
Any advice would be appreciated almost as much as it would be if it stopped snowing.
