Bad news for Ford:

Ford hit with $1.2 billion lawsuit over F-15 mileage - Axios

Ford is facing a class-action lawsuit accusing the company of falsifying fuel economy tests on its popular F-150 pickup trucks, costing truck owners an extra $2,000 in fuel.

Why it matters: Ford, which declined comment, is already facing a federal criminal investigation over emissions testing procedures for its 2019 Ford Ranger after employees raised concerns. The new lawsuit alleges Ford inflated mpg ratings by as much as 15% on the Ford F-150, which is the best-selling vehicle in America.

The bottom line: Aside from the lawsuit, Ford could be facing a heavy fine if the U.S. Justice Department finds wrongdoing. Volkswagen and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have already paid huge fines for falsifying emissions tests, and Daimler, the parent of Mercedes-Benz, faces similar scrutiny.

One thing I will say is when you're at the top then everyone is gunning for you.

True, just another frivolous lawsuit that clogs the court system, this one for many many years, that will in the end penalize a top country and make lots of money for lawyers and probably politicians.

Does anyone really pay much attention to or actually believe advertised MPG figures? At best, they give a vague idea of what to expect. Even with todays computerized vehicles too much depends on use, driving habits, temperature, altitude, fuel blending, etc. I'm fairly confidant that I could wring a couple extra MPG over Joe average. I retired from the trucking industry where 1/4 MPG could be over $2000 a year, you learn how to drive more economically.

I hear guys telling me what MPG they are getting with their 150 and then I see what we get in ours. I knew they were all full of it

The nice thing about my new Ram 2500 Power Wagon. There is a small program that automatically calculates miles per gallon. I have gone 5350 miles and averaged 18.1 mpg. I'm very pleased with the Taco Wagon. My F-150 now belongs to my son.

You should do one or two old school MPG calculations. Those computers are notoriously optimistic. Car & Driver reported seeing errors of more than 15% in some of the cars they test

It is really easy to program the “computer” to be optimistic

lol...you're half right...2.7 for sure, my second 2.7 truck ('18 supercrew 4x4 10AT, 3.55 gear), still in love with this engine! That's the past month or so of driving, mixed conditions, mostly 2-lane rural roads, 30% freeway 70-80 mph, maybe 5% city. Lots of hills down here in SE Ohio as well. I can easily get 26-28 on flat stretches of 70mph freeway.
