I just bought my first brush mower; an old Ford 908 brush mower. It has a slip clutch on the pto shaft, and a couple of small cracks that I welded up, but I only paid $250 for it. I have tried it out in some small areas and it seems to work fine. The mower has a component #122-194 and appears to be made between 1968-1977. I have a couple of questions though.
1. No manual. Anyone have a copy I could get from them?
2. If I can't get a manual, anyone know how to check/adjust this clutch? It doesn't have bolts and springs like the new ones.
3. The cover on the pto shaft is shredded. Anyone know of a place to get a new cover for this old shaft? I found a few sites with parts for this mower, but for the two halfs is like $75 before shipping. If it is that much, I will probably buy a whole new shaft.
4. What is the duty/capacity of this old mower?
Thanks for any help. I have been looking on here and the web for the past week and can't seem to find the answers to my questions. The only thing I found was a 16 page manual for $20. Hopefully someone can help me here.
Thanks again,
Chuck
