i run 15w40 in all my machines now. good C rated oil.. good for lots of temp ranges... good flow at startup.

back bfore multi grades were out.. I would have said a 30w in a mild summer.. 40w in a hot area or hard work.. and 20w in winter.

most of these red tigers make great oil pressure unless absolutely abused.

if it lives in an area where it might run in cold-cold.. but mostly summer. a 10w30 would even be cine.. especially if it carried a S and C rating.

its in minnesota and most of the work will be grading driveways and plowing with a one furrow any heavy work will be done with a 3000

Here's a page that might be handy for you to print off, and put with your service manual, or wherever you decide would be handy to have a copy. At least it's a quick reference for capacities.

Thanks. I have the complete book from 1967. Our neighbor was a salesman for Gulf Oil back in the 60's. When they moved, he cleaned out his garage and WAS going to throw it away. Then thought maybe We'd would like to have it. Glad he thought of us..!!

yep.. that old stuff is worth way more than the paper it is printed on.
